Esselene Gambrel

July 5, 1928 — August 14, 2021

Esselene Gambrel, age 93 departed this life on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the AdventHealth of Manchester.  She was born on Thursday, July 5, 1928 in Knox County to Mitchell and Mealie (Hubbard) Messer. She retired from food service for the Clay County Board of Education and was a member of Hubbard Missionary Baptist Church.

She leaves to mourn her passing her children:  Barbara J. Smith and late husband Earl of Gambrel Road, Pauline Smith and late husband Odas of Thomas Branch, Carol Wirries of Ohio, Bonnie Gambrel of Manchester, and Darrell Gambrel of Goose Creek, 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Crit Gambrel, her parents: Mitchell and Mealie Messer, her grandchild:  James Mitchell Smith, and these brothers and sisters:  Lloyd Messer, Robert Messer, Gilbert Messer, Nasby Messer, Axie Bargo, Dorothy Smith, Bertha Mills, and Callie Messer.

Funeral Services for Esselene Gambrel will be conducted on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Mike Carpenter and Bro. Kip Wells will be presiding.  She will be laid to rest in the Hubbard Cemetery in the Mill Creek Community.

The family will receive friends and loved ones after 11:30 AM on Wednesday until funeral time at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
