Ted Garrison was born in Manchester, Kentucky October 30, 1936, a son of the late Theo and Rosa Ponder Garrison. Ted is survived by his son Victor Jay and Sara Garrison of San Francisco, California. His brother, Charles E. and Kathy Garrison of Florida.
Ted graduated from Clay County High School and attended Cumberland College before joining the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was assigned to the Southern European Task Force, 1st Missile Command, 82nd Field Artillery, stationed in Vicenza, Italy.
Garrison was employed by RCA Service Company, Missile Test Project, on the Eastern Test Range, then studied aviation at Embry Riddle Aeronautical Institute in Daytona Beach, Florida. He worked with Bendix Field Engineering at the Tracking Station in Madrid, Spain and the NASA Site in Bermuda for thirteen years where his duties permitted Houston Control to communicate with orbiting space shuttle astronauts. He finished his career in White Sands, New Mexico with the first completely computerized tracking facility.
In 1997 he kept a promise to his father and grandfather when he returned to Manchester and restored the Old Garrison family home place. It was during this time that he re-developed his great interest in horses.
Ted was a lifetime member of the (VVA)Vietnam Veterans of America also (DAV) Disabled American Veterans.
Funeral Services for Ted Garrison will be conducted on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. William Hugh Hudson will be presiding. Burial will follow in the Garrison Cemetery in the Little Goose Community.
