Mrs. Mildred Hampton, age 102, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on October 7, 2025 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. She was born Tuesday, July 10, 1923 in Clay County, KY to Steve J. and Polly Craft Brown. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
Her favorite past times and hobbies include sharing her life experiences with everyone she came in contact with especially her younger years and years at Berea Foundation School, now known as Berea College. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, jigsaw puzzles, reading, and sudoku puzzles. She spent much time reading the Bible and she loved spending time with her family. She was known affectionately by family and many others as “Grandmother”.
She leaves to celebrate her life, her children: Martha Lorene Hampton Gregory (James) of Ohio, Wilma Hampton Smith of London, KY, Darrell Hampton (Penny) of Ohio and William Hampton of Manchester, KY; these grandchildren: Eileen Kopp, Jana Faye Wyatt, Lora Schanding, Jennifer Gnam, Rusty Hampton, Christy Hampton, Jason Hampton, Shannon Smith and Nicole Burns; these great grandchildren: Michael Estridge, Tyler Estridge, Nicholas Estridge, Andrew Wyatt, Austin Taylor Wyatt, Alexander Wyatt, Benjamin Schanding, Abigail Schanding, Levi Schanding, Callie Gnam, Colin, Gnam, Benjamin Hampton, Brooke Lynn Hampton, Dominick Hampton, Courtney Hampton, Britney Luttrell, Emily Napier, Jared Napier, Logan Hampton, Bailey Hampton, Grayson Hampton, Gracie Hoskins, Kaitlyn Hoskins, Nate Smith, John Lucas Burns, Taylor Burns, and Bentley Burns; and three great great grandchildren: Owen Estridge, Vivian Estridge, and Rhett Luttrell.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Steve and Polly Brown; her husband: Otis Hampton; these siblings: Pearl Stewart, Evelyn Lamb, Wilma Nielsen, Edna Hampton, William E. Brown; her son-in-law: J. E. Smith and daughter-in-law: Lisa Hampton.
The family would also like to acknowledge the two dedicated caregivers that loved Mildred and gave outstanding care: Elizabeth Newman and Danielle Byrd.
Funeral Services for Mildred Hampton will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 1:00 P. M. at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Carl Allen will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Manchester Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Saturday after 12:00 P. M. until funeral time at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
