Mr. Luther Mathis, age 89 of Burning Springs, passed away Sunday, March 29th, 2009 at the Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born February 6th, 1920 in Oneida, Kentucky to the union of Alfred & Mary Wilson Mathis. He was a farmer, a carpenter, a member of the Baptist church, & a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in World War II.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 63 years: Dora Sandlin Mathis of Burning Springs. Also surviving are the following children: Jim Mathis & wife Betty of Burning Springs, Pat Hacker & husband Lonnie of London, Lorene Day of London, Rick Mathis & wife Rosa Lee of Burning Springs, Phil Mathis & wife Tammy of Burning Springs, & David Mathis & wife Connie of Burning Springs. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, & 1 great great grandchild, & 1 brother: John D. Mathis of Florida.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Alfred & Mary Wilson Mathis, 2 sons: Stanley & Ernest Mathis, 1 daughter: Velma Jean Combs, & these brothers & sisters: Dora, Jeff, Julie, Mattie, Nancy, Callie, Henry, Arnold, Clay, Charlie, & Susan.

Funeral Services for Mr. Luther Mathis will be Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 at 2 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Wayne House & Rev. Jay Mathis will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Manchester Memorial Gardens in Manchester, Kentucky.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 31st, after 6 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
