Lucy Slusher Smith, age 91, of Oneida, KY passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, September 26, 2025 surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Lucy was born on December 31, 1933, a devoted mother of Christian faith. She had a sweet, gentle spirit, a kind heart, and a home filled with endless wisdom and love. Her greatest joy came from nurturing her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lester Smith of 56 years, daughter Brenda Collett, son Vogal Asher, grandson, Richard Daniel Asher, parents Joe and Shirley Slusher, siblings Rufus Slusher, George Slusher, Joe Slusher, and Amanda Slusher Roark.
To mourn her passing she leaves behind four sons and three daughters:
Malcolm Asher and wife Sharon of Pineville, KY.
Herman Asher and wife Twila of London, KY.
Richard Asher and wife Sharon of Pineville, KY.
Daryol Smith and wife Cheryl of London, KY.
Wanda Jackson and husband Carson of Manchester, KY.
Sharon Whitehead and husband Darrell of Hyden, KY.
Carolyn Buckles and husband Billy of London, KY.
She also leaves behind a son-in-law Walden Jr. Collett of Flemingsburg, KY, daughter-in-law Becky Asher of Crittenden, KY, two siblings Clifford Slusher and Linda Rader Cottengim both of London, KY.
Also surviving are a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other family and friends, along with four caregivers: Debbie Salmons, Karen Ayers, Nannie Bowling and Dr. Angela Rice.

Services for Lucy Slusher Smith will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 12:00 P. M. at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel in Manchester, KY with Herman Asher, Richard Asher, and Marty Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at the Smith Cemetery at Asher’s Fork in Clay County.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 after 6:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
