John Lawson, Jr.

John Lawson, Jr., age 75 passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky. He was born on Wednesday, March 15, 1950 in Big Creek, Kentucky to Tom and Mary Ann (Henson) Lawson.

He is survived by his son: John (Johnny) Lawson and his brothers and sisters: Dorothy Warren, Cledith Smith and husband Jr., Pete Lawson and wife Claudia, David Lawson and wife Dorothy, Curtis Lawson and wife Wilma, Lucy Sutti and husband Willie and Marvin Lawson and wife Donna.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Tom and Mary Ann Lawson, his wife: Marlene Lawson and his brothers and sisters: Dewey Lawson, Rebecca Smith, Ellen Arlene Lawson and Earl Joe (Erky Joe) Lawson.

Funeral Services for John Lawson, Jr. will be conducted on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 1 PM at the Big Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Anthony Adams will be presiding. Burial will follow in the Lawson Mountain Cemetery in the Big Creek Community.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday, August 27 from 6 PM until 10 PM at the Big Creek Baptist Church.
