James C. "Jim" Westerfield

James C. “Jim” Westerfield, age 87 passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at the AdventHealth Manchester.

He was born on Wednesday, March 22, 1939 in Fogertown, Kentucky to Jesse Robert and Laura Belle (Cornett) Westerfield. He was a member of the Island Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Jim was a Master Mason and a member of Clay Masonic Lodge #798. He was a retired schoolteacher where he taught for 33 years, he loved helping children. After retiring from teaching school, Jim worked at North Manchester Water District for several years. He had a heart for helping people and children. Jim was a founding member of the Burning Springs Fire Department. He loved his family most of all.

He leaves to mourn his passing his children: Robert Duane “Robbie” Westerfield and wife Linda, Trichina Westerfield Wilder and husband Arles; his beloved grandchildren: Landon W. Westerfield, Logan Chapman Westerfield and Hadley Sue Wilder and one great granddaughter: Ella Grace Westerfield.

Jim is preceded in death by his cherished wife: Phyllis Sue Westerfield; his parents: Jesse Robert and Laura Belle Westerfield; and his siblings: Edward Westerfield, Robert Grant Westerfield, Jesse Westerfield, Oliver Westerfield, John Westerfield and Ada White.

Funeral Services for Jim Westerfield will be conducted on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. William Hugh Hudson will be presiding. Burial will follow in the Manchester Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, October 16, 2026 from 6:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. at Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. A Masonic Service will be held at 8:00 P. M.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Senior Citizens Food Program.
