E. G. Miller, age 83, of London, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026. He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Carol Miller; two children, Robert Lewis Miller of Nashville, TN & Anita Maria Miller of London, KY; five siblings, Ronald Wayne Miller of Indianapolis, IN, Gordon Miller of Burning Springs, KY, Joyce Ann Plymate of Indianapolis, IN, Patricia Ann Gooderum & husband David of Indianapolis, IN, Deborah Gross & husband Fred of London, KY; plus a host of other family and friends to cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Ola Asher Miller; and by two siblings, Doris Parks & Forester Miller. E.G. was a hardworking and devoted family man who leaves behind a legacy of kindness, service, and quiet strength. A skilled mechanic for mining machinery and later a supervisor for Interstate Coal, E.G. was known for his remarkable ability to fix just about anything. If something was broken, he would study it, figure it out, and have it working again before long. His hands were rarely still, and his talents seemed limitless. A proud veteran, E.G. honorably served his country in the United States Army. He carried the values of dedication, humility, and dependability throughout his life. Though he was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes. Whenever someone needed help, E.G. never hesitated. No matter how busy he was, he would simply say, “I’ll be out there directly,” and before long he would arrive, tools in hand and ready to help. He rarely accepted payment, often asking for nothing more than a little gas money. Helping others was his way of showing he cared, and countless people benefited from his generosity over the years. E.G. had a deep love for animals and the outdoors. He operated a dog kennel and especially enjoyed hunting with his beloved beagles and bird dogs. He raised quail, appreciated the beauty of nature, and took great pride in building purple martin houses, many of which still stand today as a lasting reminder of his craftsmanship and love for wildlife. A man who respected others and earned their respect in return, E.G. lived quietly and honorably. He minded his own business, spoke ill of no one, and treated everyone with fairness and dignity. His character, integrity, and willingness to help made a lasting impression on all who knew him. More than anything, E.G. loved the people in his life. He was deeply devoted to his family, always caring for them, providing for them, and standing beside them through every season of life. His steady presence, dependable nature, and unconditional love will be greatly missed and forever remembered. E.G.’s life was a testament to hard work, humility, service, and love. He was also a man of deep, quiet faith. He did not feel the need to speak often about what he believed because he lived it every day through his kindness, generosity, integrity, and the way he cared for others. His faith was evident in the life he led, the helping hand he freely offered, and the devotion he showed to his family and community. The memories he created, the lives he touched, and the example he set will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. The family would like to give special thanks to the Veterans Administration, Home Helpers, VNA Home Health, and the Bluegrass Care Navigators for their excellent care and compassion. A funeral service honoring E. G. Miller will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with David Gooderum and Jesse Armstong officiating. Interment will follow at Smith Cemetery in Burning Springs, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour, also at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the local DAV Chapter 158 of Keavy, KY. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
