Donnie Ray Murray, of Burlington, Kentucky, passed away suddenly at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, KY on Sunday, December 10th, 2023; he was 71 years old. He was born at the Booth Hospital in Covington, KY on Thursday, April, 4th, 1952 to the late Don and Stella Murray. Surviving are Donnie’s two cherished cousins: Millie Baker and Stella Gadd, both of Florence, KY; as well as his lifelong friend and ex-wife, Elaine Murray.

Donnie was a 1974 graduate of Northern Kentucky University where he received a four-year, Bachelor of Science degree. Following his time in college, Donnie focused his career on the financial realm of society. He worked for several years at the Boone State Bank as a teller, happily helping to serve clients with their daily monetary needs. Later, he continued his work in banking taking on a position with a local credit union. Finances even bled over into his personal life as Donnie became an avid coin collector in his free time, treasuring and collecting most anything he could get his hands on.

Faith always played an important role in Donnie’s life. As a lifelong Christian, it was during a church revival held at the Walton Baptist Church one year that Donnie would meet his lifelong friend and companion, Elaine. The two would remain friends from this day forth, supporting one another in their own special ways. Donnie, always an incredibly helpful man, took on the role of caregiver when Elaine became ill. Making sure she got to her appointments, had the food she needed, anything he could to make life more accommodating. This thoughtful, considerate, big-hearted man will be dearly missed by all that knew him.     

A graveside service will be held for Donnie at the New Bethel Cemetery in Verona, KY on Friday, December 15th, 2023, beginning at 2:00PM. Following the committal service, Donnie will be buried alongside his beloved parents, Don and Stella.
