Aster Rice

Aster Rice, age 83 departed this life on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY. He was the son of the late Ira and Oma (Collins) Rice. He was the husband of the late Gearldine Rice. He loved to garden, hunting, fishing, dry land fish hunting, watching the squirrels and birds, sitting on the porch. He loved to attend Heritage Pentecostal Church. He was born on Thursday, June 4, 1942 in Hyden, Kentucky.

He leaves to mourn his passing his children: Kathleen and Scott Henson, Brenda Hall and Jimmy Spencer and Audrey Hall; his grandchildren: Manda Spurlock, Jessica and Jon Smith, Ezekiel and Hannah Henson, Ashley and John Root, Kayla and Nick Burns, Audreyanna and Austin Colwell, and Gracie Henson; great grandchildren: Joselyn Henson, Christopher Henson, Hazelynn Smith, Mattie Root, Remington Colwell, Addison and Maverick Couch and Ava Burns. Also surviving are two siblings: Tester Rice of Turners Station and Easter Allmond of Florida.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Ira and Oma Rice; his wife: Gearldine Rice; brothers and sisters: Iree Bowling, Mae Gibson, Lillie Hoskins, Ellen Griffith, Annie Rice, Nona Lee Carter, Lester Rice, Hobert Rice, and Marion Williams.

Funeral Services for Aster Rice will be conducted on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jamie Davis will be presiding. Burial will follow in the Ira Rice Cemetery in the Saul Community.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday from 6 PM until 9 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
